What a journey since the domain was taken over in 2011 by the Sartorius family (LÌ_å©oville Barton). A well-structured and balanced wine that presents a fine frame and a dense and elegant substance.

After having built the castle in 1853, the Marquis LodoÌÎÌ_ÌÎÌ_s Le Blanc de Mauvesin died in 1884 without descendants. He decides to bequeath his heritage to his first cousin, Hyppolite de Baritault du Carpia, of whom he was the closest relative. The Baritault family, a very old family of VendÌ_å©e origin, will keep ChÌ_å¢teau Mauvesin for 4 generations until it is sold in 2011.

The Vicomte and Vicomtesse Alain de Baritault du Carpia, heirs of the Le Blanc de Mauvesin, cede the property on August 4, 2011 to Lilian and Michel Barton-Sartorius. For eight generations, the Barton family has owned the Crus ClassÌ_å©s Langoa and LÌ_å©oville Barton located in the Saint Julien appellation.

Being equipped with vats of different sizes allows each plot to be vinified separately and thus to have greater possibilities when blending the wines. The vats are thermo-regulated and allow very precise temperature control throughout the fermentation phase. The aging period for the wines is spread over 12 months in French oak barrels. A third are new barrels from 3 different coopers, another third comes from barrels which have already received 1 wine, and finally the last third comes from barrels which have received 2 wines (2 years) from LÌ_å©oville Barton. ChÌ_å¢teau Mauvesin Barton's wine benefits from all the expertise of MÌ_å©lanie Sartorius and Bruno Petit associated with the team of consultant oenologist Eric Boissenot.
