Since its initial release in 1951, Black Velvet has expanded to rank as the second-largest Canadian whisky globally. The original distiller, Jack Napier, altered the name of the brand from "Black Label" to "Black Velvet" to represent its unusual velvety taste and smoothness after tasting the first batch. The best rye, grains, and corn are combined with pure Canadian water to create the whisky, which is then laboriously distilled, blended at birthTM, and aged slowly in excellent oak barrels.
